About the Event
We are pleased to announce the second annual C40 Financing Sustainable Cities Forum to take place on 4 April 2017. The Forum is hosted by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and the Greater London Authority, with the support of the Citi Foundation and WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. This action-oriented event will focus on immediate opportunities to scale up investment in sustainable and inclusive cities. It forms part of the Financing Sustainable Cities Initiative and builds on the success of the first C40 Financing Sustainable Cities Forum held in Rio de Janeiro in April 2016.
The Forum is designed to increase collaboration between senior leaders in the public and private sector to scale up investment in sustainable infrastructure and services in cities around the world. Through series of presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshopping, global experts will share insights on successful business models and innovative financing strategies for cities and investors alike to capitalize on critical sustainable infrastructure development.
This is an invitation-only event for approximately 200 senior decision makers from C40 cities, state and national governments, non-government organisations, financial institutions, and the private sector.
Registration starts at 8:00 am in City Hall.
The C40 Financing Sustainable Cities Forum is an invitation-only, one-day event bringing together approximately 200 global leaders in sustainable city finance. To date, city representatives have been invited from Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Key topics will include:
- Financing sustainable, thriving cities – exploring sustainable urban solutions from the perspective of cities and investors to highlight existing opportunities and help both sides see eye-to-eye on what is needed to unlock new investment opportunities.
- Innovation in business models – a closer look at new financial products, funding sources, and private sector engagement models in the areas of low emission transport, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and energy storage.
- Bridging the gap between projects and investors – defining “bankable” projects from the perspective of different investors and improving project preparation to generate a pipeline of bankable, sustainable infrastructure projects.
About the Financing Sustainable Cities Initiative (FSCI)
A joint effort of C40, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, and the Citi Foundation, the FSCI is helping accelerate and scale up investment in sustainable urban solutions. By identifying the ingredients of successful sustainable urban projects around the world, this groundbreaking partnership is helping city governments and investors develop business models that enable all stakeholders to bridge quickly from innovation to implementation. It’s not just about finding more money; investors and city decision-makers need new ways of seeing eye-to-eye on what makes urban investment a sustainable and a financially viable solution.
